10Broad36 Medium Specification (StarLAN)

• 10 Mbps, DPSK Modulation (not Manchester encoding).
• Standard 75-ohm CATV coaxial cable (characteristic impedance = 75 ohm).
• Make use of the same AUI as the 10Base5 Spec. and only the cable and MAUs need to be replaced.
• The maximum length of an individual segment is 1800m(End-to-End 3600m).
• The MAU of the 10Broad36 needs to perform:
  • Transmit signals on the medium
  • Receive signals from the medium
  • Recognize the presense of a signal on the medium
  • Recognize a collision
